Features Búllan
On March 14, 1981, the first Tommaborgara place was opened by Grensásvegur.
It was shortly after Tómas Tómasson returned home from the United States after studying at a hotel and restaurant school, where Tommi got to know the hamburger and ólmur wanted to introduce it to Icelanders.
In the minds of many, Tommaborgarinn is the first hamburger in Iceland and then Tommaborgar were among the first restaurant chains in the country, but at its peak Tommaborgarinn counted 26 places all over the country.
In 1983, Tómas decided to sell his entire business, but by then he had sold over one million burgers.
Subsequently, Tómas was responsible for the opening of Hard Rock in Kringlan, but he has also been involved in the operation of places such as Ömma Lú, Hótel Borg and Kaffibrennslan.
It was then in 2004 that he opened Tómas first Hamburger Bull at Geirsgata in Reykjavík with his two sons and Erni Hreinsson.
The popularity of the place grew rapidly and so more places were soon opened.
Today, Tómas Hamburger Bull is found in seven places in Iceland, but they are located in the Greater Reykjavík area and in Selfoss.
Along with them, 12 places are operated abroad, but the first Hamburger Bull outside Iceland opened in London in 2012.
